RENTON - The Seattle Seahawks announced Thursday they have signed WR Doug Baldwin to a new three-year contract.

Baldwin is now under contract with the team through the 2016 season.

Baldwin was a restricted free agent and given a second-round tender by the team worth $2.187 million. However, Baldwin had not yet signed the tender for next season. Instead, he gets a new contract that will keep with the team for the near future and give him a chance at a third NFL contract in a few years as well.

According to multiple reports, Baldwin will get a minimum of $16 million over the next three seasons with $8.5 million guaranteed.

Baldwin has posted 50-catch seasons in two of his first three years with the team. He caught 50 passes for 778 yards and five touchdowns in the regular season and added 13 catches for 202 yards and one touchdown in the playoffs.

While Seattle wasn't active on the free agent market, they've been able to take care of their core pieces this offseason with contract extensions.

CB Richard Sherman, S Earl Thomas, DE Michael Bennett and now Baldwin have all been locked up for several seasons. QB Russell Wilson will be able to get a new contract after next season as well.
