RENTON - The first season in Seattle for WR Percy Harvin could be heading toward its conclusion.

Head coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday that the Seahawks could be nearing a potential roster move with Harvin.

Harvin has played in just one game for Seattle this season. He caught one pass for 17 yards and returned a kickoff for 58 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in November after having surgery to repair a damaged labrum in his hip on August 1.

However, Harvin has not been able to practice since playing against the Vikings and hasn't been making progress toward getting back on the field. Carroll said Monday that Harvin would not be able to practice this week and said they are still taking the long-term approach with Harvin.

"The progress wasn’t coming along fast enough to stay as a day-to-day issue. That’s when it kind of went week-to-week," Carroll said. "We’re looking to take care of him; we need to get him right. He had major surgery and he tried with everything he could to get back, and hasn’t been able to get that done."

With a few injuries piling up and Harvin still not progressing, the move to injured reserve could be just a matter of time.

CB Walter Thurmond is eligible to return from suspension and the team will need to make a roster move to get him on the active roster. Seattle had signed WR Bryan Walters from their practice squad to fill the spot of CB Brandon Browner. However, with minor injuries to WR Jermaine Kearse (ankle) and WR Golden Tate (thumb), Walters may need to be kept on the roster forcing the team to pull from elsewhere to get a spot free for Thurmond.

Harvin will make $14.5 million with Seattle in 2013 after signing a contract extension with the team in March after being acquired in a trade from the Vikings.
